Five-second Suspension

When the stars fade to blue and the moon-light too
As nights charcoal robe melts away
When the silver hue in the curtain of dew
Heralds another day
For one blissful moment as my eyes open
I’m suspended twixt waking and sleep
Night is warm in the crook of his arm
Soft haze is sensual and sweet
But alas, I blink and quick as a wink
His heart-beat grows muffled and dim
As the stars turn to blue and the midnight too
So also, the whisper of him
