Grand Privilege

It is no small thing
This privilege we are given
To approach the throne of grace
And God of earth and Heaven
To make our wants and wishes known
And claim His victory as our own

It is no mere thought
That we can freely call
Upon the Name of Christ the Lord
Creator of us all
That He who formed us from the dust
May be the One in whom we trust

When we beckon to Him
It is no casual place
That we approach with love and shame
To kneel in His embrace
But by His holy Blood-drops spilt
He vanquishes our debt of guilt

It is no small thing
This little word called prayer
As He makes intercession
For those groans we cannot air
And there He lavishes on us
The hope we find in Him, JESUS!

Pray without ceasing; 1 Thess. 5:17

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Romans 8:26

Power-point.....

Begin your day with wisdom
Power and energy
Begin it with discretion
Beyond what you may see
Begin your day with freedom
From life’s cumbersome care
Begin your day with Jesus
Begin your day with prayer

Comfort......

Against my wish, I cannot hold all my loved ones near
But I can embrace them tenderly in the arms of prayer
On my own I cannot quell the plaguing doubt and fear
But I can place them trustingly in the Arms of care

I cannot see into the great abyss of the unknown
But I can place my faith in He who will abide
Where’er He leads I know that I will never be alone
He who directs our paths will never leave our side

Yea, though I walk through the valley
Of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil,
For Thou art with me
Thy rod and Thy stall they comfort me…..Ps.23:4

Morning Conversation.....

This morning as I talked to you
I told you how much I loved you
I shared my worry and my fear
Of love and life, of the past year
And how in the year that looms ahead
There may be mountains that I dread
You never really said a word
But that’s okay, I know you heard

This morning as I talked to you
The sun breathed on deeper blue
And all the sullen shades of gray
Began to softly melt away
I asked if you would walk with me…
It’s easier that way, you see
And though I cannot see you here
I know the truth, that You are near

I will never leave you or forsake you……Heb.13:5

He Will Do the Rest

It’s easy to become discouraged
As we view the road ahead
It takes a lot of courage
To face those hills we dread
It seems that our own might
Is soon so very small
And if we rely upon it
We are surely doomed to fall

But there’s one thing that we can do
As we face every test
We can pray each other through
And God will do the rest
If we place our own wee hand
Into His gracious palm
He lifts us up and helps us stand
Oh my God, lead on

So let’s pray for each other
And not neglect this power
Encouraging each other
Within this darkened hour
For there is hope for sinners
Who trust love’s very best
And if we call upon His name
He will do the rest

The Lord is my Shepherd;

Try putting the emphasis on
a different word in the verse
each time you repeat it....
It is astounding how profound one line can become!!!

There is Nothing Like a Prayer

Oh, there’s nothing like a prayer
For there is no barrier
That it cannot cross or climb
It does not lose its power with time
As a Father up in Heaven
Hears each prayer that He is given

Oh there’s nothing like a prayer
For His own, ah, this is where
We sense His tender arms surround
Invisible and yet profound
His mercy guides us through our day
As we look to Him….and pray

Oh, there’s nothing like a prayer
In our moments of despair
When the light of hope is dim
We need only look to Him
In our whispers He is there
Oh, there’s nothing like a prayer

When I Pray For You.....

When I pray for you I pray the sun shines
Softly on your face
I pray the wind is always kind
And for a special grace
To fill you where life leaves you sad
If disappointments come
I pray when you are far away
That you will find your way back home

I pray the sky above is blue
With just a little gray
So you may come to know the truth
That God is never far away
And that He holds the paintbrush
For the deep shades and the light
I pray that you will walk with Him
In morning, noon or night

When I pray I feel you near
You’re just a breath away
And in that soft and silent tear
God sees it when I pray
I know that He can see you
Wherever you may roam
He is always near you
And will help you find your way back home

Comfort....

When I want to reach out
To touch you and hold you
But you are so far away
When I want to hug you
In your hour of sorrow
All I can do is pray…

And God’s arms will hold you
When I am not able
He knows just what to say
Oh what sweet comfort
To know He can touch you….
…..All I need to do is pray

But the Comforter
which is the Holy Ghost
whom the Father will send in my name
He shall teach you all things.....Matt.14:26

...it is expedient for you that I go away;
for if I go not away the Comforter will not
come unto you;
but if I depart I will send him unto you. Matt.16:7

My Source of Power

Sometimes, although we hate the act
We do it anyhow
Too weak to stand on our own strength
I guess it goes to show
If we rely on human power
We are doomed to fall
God, walk me through my weakest hour
Be my All in all

Forgive me for my foolish stumbles
Victim of my pride
You give grace Lord, to the humble
And for all, You died
Lord be in me, Lord, shine through me
Take away my sin
Mend this broken sinner, Lord
Oh, make me whole again

Sometimes when I can’t feel You, Lord
Or you seem far away
Help me to find my way to You
Teach me how to pray
Through You I can be strong enough
Within my weakest hour
For Your arm is long enough
To be my Source of power

His Power

As I walk in the shadow of the valley
Quiet waters seem so far away
The darkness feels like its eternal
But oh, you should see it when I pray

Into the agonizing midnight
I feel a soft and mellow ray
Hope restoring the daylight
Driving the darkness away

Whispers of mercy gently gleaming
Beacon across the charcoal wave
Redemption and victory beaming
Beyond the confines of a lonely grave

I feel his Presence like an angel
Hovering around me everywhere
I am a pilgrim and a stranger
But I have His power in each prayer

Intercession

I don’t have to say a single word
‘Cause I know that You know
You know my deepest sorrow, Lord
You know each hurtful blow
And as I kneel before you
To tell you of my needs
I do not need to say a word
Your mercy intercedes

Lord, I know you hear it
Each sad, wordless confession
And with Your Holy spirit
You make intercession
I do not need to say a word
No perfect line or phrase
For I know that You understand
With Your Amazing Grace

As I weep and as I groan
Unable to express
In love and mercy you atone
My unrighteousness
On my knees I cry to You
Without verbal expression
You know better than I do
And You make intercession

with groans that words cannot express....Rom.8:26

Prayer Meeting

From the trucker on the highway
To the lofty business suite
From a laborer in some byway
To the houses down the street
From conductors in high towers
To the ships way out at sea
There comes a cry to tender ears
A begging earnest plea

Someone needs your prayers today
Faithful soldier will you pray?
In your service for your Lord
Rich will be your last reward
Halt your labor, lend an ear
We are neighbors far or near
To man or woman, boy or girl
We’re having a prayer meeting ALL OVER THE WORLD

From missionaries in the jungle
To the desert wilderness
From your distant German uncle
To your Irish relatives
From down under in New Zealand
To the frigid Northern Pole
We have a common zeal and
We share a common goal

Someone needs our prayers today
Lay your weapons down and pray
Farmer in your dusty field
There among the sheaves you kneel
Invalid upon your bed
There in love you bow your head
Man and woman, boy and girl
We’re having a prayer meeting ALL OVER THE WORLD

To His glorious throne in Heaven
From this vast and weary land
A Father ever-loving
Hears a tender chorus grand
From tribes in every nation
Every tongue, communal plea
All across His great creation
Waft the prayers for one in need

Someone needs Your help today
Hear us Father as we pray
Shine upon him with Your love
Watch him from your throne above
Man and woman, boy and girl
All around this great wide world
Fight the soldiers fight today
AS WE ALL UNITE TO PRAY

You Comfort Me

Your Presence like a starry shawl wraps around my shoulder
As the twilight shadows fall across each field and boulder
You gently soothe the aching heart with whispers from the sky
A blessed comfort You impart in heavens lullaby

I don’t offer fancy words or flowery repetition
In this silence I am stirred to quiet contemplation
As you usher in the night with deeper shades of blue
Offering a brief respite from duty’s glaring hue

I have no words to bring to You, with weariness I’m fraught
Beneath the evenings gentle blue you behold each thought
And you behold each silent tear, each wordless confession
For the pleas I cannot bear You make intercession

As the twilight shadows fall across another day
I draw upon Your starry shawl to keep night’s chill away
And I can feel the gentle glow Your mystery imparts
I feel the comfort You bestow wrapped around my heart

Rock of ages cleft for me
Let me hide myself in Thee
Let the water and the blood
From Thy riven side which flowed
Be of sin the double cure
Save me Lord and make me pure

Should my tears forever flow
Should my zeal no languor know
These for sin could not atone
Thou canst save and Thou alone
in my hand no gift I bring
Simply to the cross I cling

When I draw this fleeting breath
When my eyes shall close in death
When I rise to worlds unknown
And behold Thee on Thy throne
( I 've forgotten the last two lines!!!!)
but the words to this beautiful hymn
just drifted across my memory:):)
When the last two lines come to me I'll fill them in.
Yes, I could go and look in a book but
what would be the challenge in that???:):)
God bless you and may He be your true comfort,
This blessed Rock of the ages!!!

One Day At A Time

Lord, help me live one day at a time
Too often it seems like this mountain I climb
Grows taller and taller, but I cannot stop
Until I have reached its elusive top

Help me to focus simply on today
All of the morrows are still far away
The path that I view, though now cold with dread
Cannot reveal what truths lie ahead

Help me to trust You, one day at a time
In my feeble strength I never could climb
But if I will trust You to lead the way
I’ll stand on this mountain-top someday

Somebody prayed for me again.....

Somebody prayed for me again….
I know they did
Cause I almost fell,
Slipped into a pit
When something pulled me
Back from its brink
As I paused to re-think
My foolish action
And the subtle distraction
Was suddenly glaringly obvious
Though I had been trying
To remain oblivious
To its danger, something drew me back
Back onto the narrow track
The one that leads to life and peace
And now I know what it is
To feel a prayer
To know somebody cares……
Self-pity, you are a loathsome pit
Somebody’s prayer kept me out of it.
Thank-you.
