Awakening.....

Beyond the distant fringes of this vast and slumbering nation
Beyond the rosy tinges of the dawn
Beyond the boundless limits of a wondrous creation
Beyond the lines that human hands have drawn
There is a Hand, an unseen Hand
Which holds a slender chord
As nature bows to His command
In awe of Heaven's Lord

Beyond the subtle moments when the night-time fades away
And shadow yields to heaven's golden brush
Beyond the coral brilliance as the midnight turns to day
Melting darkness in its softened hush
Beyond this blue there is a Hand
Stirring this sleeping nation
Supremacy crowns His command
Lord of all creation

As here and there a humble soul responds to His awakening
And here and there a thankful heart is stirred
Here and there a trusting heart renews a firm ambition
Another day of grace to serve the Lord
Oh, one day soon this unseen Hand
Will move with power unshaken
And every soul across this land
On that great morn shall waken

In One Accord

Come worship the Lord in spirit and truth
In one sweet accord come aged and youth
Cast aside all your differences now we will sing
With joyful voice thankful praise to the King

His grace has no limit so our gratitude
With selfish desire must not be subdued
For God seeks the worshipper doing his part
To worship sincerely with all of his heart

His grace is sufficient for the young and the old
So lift up your voices and let us be bold
Bold for His glory and bold for His name
Truthful worship has one stage and one claim

And our claim is Jesus most Faithful One
Blessed Redeemer, Father, Spirit and Son
United we’ll gather with one accord
United we’ll worship our Savior and Lord

Our oldest two daughters,
Emily and Melissa just got back from
an 'Acquire the Fire' week-end...
a week-end of music and worship
in a stadium of ten thousand people.
They said it was absolutely INCREDIBLE
to sing and worship where everyone shouted
praises to God.
Can you imagine heaven?????

Give unto the Lord
the glory due His name.
Worship the Lord
in the beauty of holiness. Ps.29:2 KJV

What is Man????

Sultry autumn evening beneath magenta skies
Drinking in the beauty of the of the twilight lullabies
The willow tree whispers in the bloom-scented breeze
And I in my wonder am drawn to my knees

And I cry to You Lord, as the daylight grows dim
What is man that You’re mindful of him?

You paint the dawn o’er a sin-ravaged plain
The sun shines on our doom and pain
Your mercy caresses our every cry
And your grace still blesses a wretch as I

And I cry to You Lord, with vision so dim
What is man that You’re mindful of him?

For all of my hatred You give me love
For all of my failure I have hope from above
I lift to You my defeat and my loss
Then You give to me eternal life through the cross

And I cry to You with eyes tear-dimmed
What is man that You’re mindful of him?

Man is but a worthless shell
Man is doomed to endless hell
Unless he sees his utter loss
And finds Your victory in the cross

I thank You Lord, as daylight grows dim
That You love man and You’re mindful of him

the work of Your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which You have set in place,

that You care for him? Ps. 8:3-4

Come on, Everybody

We call each other sister and brother
And gather to worship the Lord,
We politely smile as we meet in the aisle
As if in sweet accord,
We sit through the preachin’, nod at the teachin’,
Discreetly watchin’ the clock,
But if God hung up charts to reveal our hearts
I believe we would get quite a shock…..

Good grief! Why won’t the preacher sit down?
Does he know how fast restaurants fill up in this town?
Did you notice that Suzie has another new shirt?
She probably needed it to match her new skirt,
Mrs. Parker’s shoes must have cost a mint!
And Freda’s new hairdo makes her look like a kid,
Why can’t we sing a more modern song?
Mrs. Brown says anything but old hymns is wrong,
Why does Hank have such a smug look on his face?
Does he think maybe he owns the place?
COME ON EVERYBODY, LET’S SING A NEW SONG,
WHY CAN’T EVERYBODY JUST GET ALONG?

But still we nod and worship God,
This loving righteous King,
In ‘holy fear’ we gather here
To read His Word and sing,
We join in prayer, the cup we share,
Release to God each grudge,
And we admit there’s nothing hid
From this most righteous Judge…..

But isn’t the guy doing announcements boring?
Maybe that’s why someone behind me is snoring,
He should stop his rambling and ‘cut to the chase’,
Does he realize how much time he wastes?
Does nobody know how to keep it brief?
Oh, he’s sitting down, that’s a relief!
And we’re sitting on benches, though some prefer chairs
And still make mention of it in their prayers,
Which reminds me, they should pray for more discretion,
Last week they allowed a most lengthy confession!
COME ON EVERYBODY, LET’S SING A NEW SONG,
COME ON EVERYBODY, LET’S JUST GET ALONG

The ‘House of Peace’ where worries cease
Then, why all these complaints?
They preach too much on such and such
And not enough to saints,
Too much on his glory, not on the Story
Too little on how we live,
And still we fret ‘bout what we don’t get
Yet never seek to give

Today I’d like to sing a brand new song,
COME ON EVERYBODY, LET’S JUST GET ALONG,
In true humility and with one accord,
COME ON EVERYONE, LET’S WORSHIP THE LORD,
Lift up our voices and gratefully sing
To the God of our choices, Creator and King,
Let’s worship together in Spirit and truth,
It matters not whether we’re aged or youth,
Let God be our focus and not each other,
In true love let’s call ourselves sisters and brothers,
We’ll gather as servants around the Lord’s Table,
Worship in reverence, as long as we’re able,
And sing from our hearts His most worthy song,
SO COME ON EVERYBODY, LET’S GET ALONG

Boundless Praises (song)

Oh, I will sing that precious story,
I will tell it o’er and o’er,
Til we bask in Heaven’s glory
Safe at last on that far shore

Can we know how much He loves us?
Can we ever grasp the cost?
Or catch a glimpse of His compassion
For a race, depraved and lost,
Oh could we ever try to measure
Or begin to understand,
A perfect love? Not here, but someday
When we touch His nail-scarred hands

Then we’ll praise our precious Savior,
Shout His victory ‘round the throne,
King of kings, Lord forever,
Worship Him and Him alone

Oh, how often here we struggle
With our foolish pride and sin,
While the evil of another
Seeks to pry his way within,
But the Savior never forces
Never pries the hardened gates,
But, gently in His tender patience,
There His perfect love awaits

Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!
King of kings and Lord of lords,
I can’t wait to sing Your praises
Over on that heavenly shore

Some sweet day we’ll rise together,
Sing at last the victor’s song,
Casting at His feet, our trophies,
Put the crown where it belongs,
Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!
We will shout it o’er and o’er,
Glorify the King forever,
Like we’ve never done before

Boundless praises, precious Jesus,
Boundless praises, precious Lord,
Perfect worship to our Father,

Boundless praise forevermore

A Pencil-stroke Away

Just a pencil-stroke away
Are many things that I could say
A swish, a swirl, a line and then
A message to be read by men

So before I write I’ll pray
Teach me Lord, what I should say
Guide my hand Lord, guide my pen
So You may speak through me to men

I would never care to write
Just to bring a brief delight
But let it be my one desire
To write, dear Lord, what You inspire

Let me seek to glorify
You, oh Lord in Heaven high
Let me seek to bring you praise
Exalt You King, with all my days

Just a pencil-stroke away
Are many things that I could say
Words to help or make men stumble
Words to keep us kind and humble

So as I pick up my pen
First I’ll pray to God and then
I’ll trust that He will guide my hand
So I can write what He has planned

Who Took My Place?

Bound by sins dark chains
Condemned and doomed stood I
No chance of hope to gain
As Justice raised her cry
“Only, only death for thee
No hope, no hope to be set free,”
But then came One with head bowed low
He said to Justice “let her go”
Oh, who is this who took my place?
With crimson teardrops on His face

The King of kings and Lord of lords
No higher title could there be
When Justice raised her angry sword
Someone took my place for me
Oh, my Lord, who could he be?
Who cared enough to set me free?
I raised my head to hear these words
The King of kings and Lord of lords

I fell upon the ground
As Justice screamed her plea
No reason could be found
That I should be set free
“Guilty, guilty,” was her cry
Her lone verdict “she must die,”
But then came One with head bowed low
He said to Justice “let her go”
Tell me tell me who could this be
Who would take my place for me?

The King of kings and Lord of lords
No higher throne will ever be
To describe, there are no words
To paint this holy deity
King of kings and Lord of lords
Oh my Savior can it be
The King of kings and Lord of lords
Who paid my debt to set me free?

King of kings and Lord of lords
The best that ever there will be
The King of kings and Lord of lords
Has paid the price to set me free

Sometimes I Stumble

Sometimes I am dancing,
Fleet-footed and strong
Sometimes I am flying
On the wings of a song
Sometimes like gold pennies
My blessings rain down
As I close my eyes
And twirl round and round
But the Lord has His way
Of keeping me humble
Lest I forget him
Sometimes I stumble

And instead of dancing
I fall to the ground
I strain to hear music
But there is no sound
My golden shower
Is a cold, bleak rain
As I close my eyes
And I cry out in pain
The Lord has His way
I will not grumble
At my side He will stay
For sometimes I stumble
