Have You Seen His Glory?

As He fell upon the ground and cried ‘Oh Father,
All things are possible with Thee
If it were possible, oh Father
Would You let this cup then pass from Me?
Nevertheless, not My will, oh Daddy
But as Thou wilt, oh Father, let it be
As He prayed and cried and wept in agony
Weeping blood-drops there for you and me
Oh tell me, have you seen His glory?

As He was stripped and mocked and scourged and beaten
Spat upon, He watched them bow in scorn
As the courts of men tried God’s holy perfection
And crowned Him with a diadem of thorns
Silently He bore false accusation
Humbly, He answered not a single word
He saw them in their pitiful condition
As they cried ‘Crucify Him’ to the Son of God
Oh tell me, have you seen His glory?

Above the sound of violent hatred screaming
Above the blows of steel ringing on steel
Above the angry thousands surging, teaming
Against the Hands that love, comfort and heal
Comes the sound of a Savior pleading
‘Father, forgive them for they know not what they do’
From His gentle hands mercy is bleeding
For the ones who hold the nails and pierce Him through
Oh, tell me, have you seen His glory?

His voice calls out above the groaning sorrow
To where loved ones weep in disbelief
As He beholds them in this hour of horror
He speaks a word of comfort to their grief
And then the Greatest words in all of history
Ring across the rock-strewn field and hill
‘It is finished’ Redemption, hope and victory
Immortal in the yielding of His will
Oh tell me, have you seen His glory?

Matthew 26:39 (New International Version, ©2011)
39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed,“My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
This verse struck me profoundly the other night.
The imagery of the perfect Son of God
Falling with His face to the ground
Pleading to His Father….for us!!!!

Here Am I.....

Maybe it’s just another sunrise
In a sense perhaps that’s what it is
Beautiful wakening of deep skies
But I believe it’s so much more than this
As the glory of a new day hails from high
I hear a mighty Voice say ‘here am I’

Here am I, the Father of compassion
Holding out my offering to you
As the Light rends the dark horizon
Piercing through the veil of somber hue
His power spreads across the morning sky
Flooding the universe, ‘Here am I’

Here am I, with perfect love unfailing
Here am I, the teacher of the sun
Here am I at the glorious unveiling
Of another day of grace for everyone
Look up, look up behold the glowing sky
And the Ruler of the morning, ‘here am I’

Here am I with mercy for a new day
Here am I, oh won’t you follow Me?
Here am I, the one and only true Way
Here am I, God of eternity
Won’t you trust the Painter of the sky?
Oh can’t You hear him saying, ‘here am I’?

Janet~

Lamentations 3-
22 Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
24 I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him.”

The Evidence of Him

The evidence of Him is everywhere
Brimming from land and sea and air
Scaling the highest point on earth
Lying beneath the ocean’s girth
Great wonder and mystery combine
Within the clasp of God’s design

Not a convergence of cosmic forces
Putting in place all the stars and their courses
Not an evolving coincidence
Where we are the victims of circumstance
God has a plan for each precious child
Living where man has destroyed and defiled

We are not merely formed molecules
Deciding for ourselves who is God; who rules
Worshipping the created instead of Creator
Yet each day there is evidence of the Mediator
We may choose to reject the beauty of Him
But someday we will bow ‘neath His diadem

The evidence of Him; an intangible truth
He whispers within at the hour of birth
The Giver of life, the conqueror of death
He holds in his power every mortal breath
And though we may simply possess faith so dim
Tis enough to behold the evidence of Him

You're Beautiful to Me

The rainbow arcs in cobalt blue
Above the wind-tossed sea
The morning dawns in tears of dew
And hope’s sweet melody
The rolling fields of green and gold
Gleam in the sacred calm
As heaven’s shadow we behold
In nature’s glorious palm

The tumbling river sings his praise
The humble heart does too
As sunset melts in coral blaze
On distant hills of blue
The midnight whispers in the hem
Of elm and willow tree
God, of earth’s fair diadem
You’re beautiful to me

Within the rain the tiny thrush
Lifts joyful songs to Him
And in the solemn evening hush
As daylight’s hour grows dim
The small child prays in simple faith
Upon a bended knee
Wondrous God of heaven and earth
You’re beautiful to me…….

……..the crimson tear stains heavens cheek
The blood pours from His side
The Hands which healed the sick and weak
Now hold man’s sin and pride
And as He cries out “It is done”
His death sets sinners free
God, Redeemer, Father, Son
You’re beautiful to me

O THE DEPTHS OF THE RICHES BOTH OF

THE WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE OF GOD!

HOW UNSEARCHABLE ARE HIS JUDGMENTS,

AND HIS WAYS ARE PAST FINDING OUT!

FOR WHO HATH KNOWN THE MIND OF THE

LORD? OR WHO HATH BEEN HIS COUNSELOR?

OR WHO HATH FIRST GIVEN TO HIM, AND IT

SHALL BE RECOMPENSED UNTO HIM AGAIN?

FOR OF HIM, AND THROUGH HIM, AND TO HIM,

ARE ALL THINGS; TO WHOM BE GLORY FOR EVER.

AMEN. (Rom. 11:33-36)

July's Gown

There’s no subtlety or reservation
In the fabrics that you use
The most vibrant of creation
Are the colors that you choose
In stunning quietness you reign
We turn our heads
To admire summers queen
In emeralds, sapphires, yellows, reds

There’s no sham or vanity
No pride or false pretense
You simply bloom where’er you be
In colors bold, intense
And humbly I’m reminded
God would ask of us the same
To bloom where we are planted
In the colors of His name

I'm Glad I Know.....

On summer eve I gladly love to wander
Across the field where tender breezes blow
I hear the trees in hallowed softness whisper
I see the western sky in glory glow

I’m glad I know the Hand of this creation
I’m glad I know that He has saved my soul
I’m glad I know the fate of every nation
Rests in His Hand for he is in control

As daylight melts in coral-tinted glazing
And clouds like blue hills rest in heavens palm
I stand in awe to think His love amazing
Can paint the sky and fill me with His calm

I’m glad to know the Hand of the creator
I’m glad to know He never leaves my side
I’m glad to know this holy Mediator
Will never fail; He always will abide

As daylight fades across the fields of twilight
To rise anew in someone else’s dawn
As shadows deepen in the purple midnight
There is a truth I ever dwell upon

I’m glad I know the Hand of this Designer
I’m glad I know He’ll never let me go
I’m glad I know that there is nothing finer
Than the love that His Hand doth bestow

Oh, What a Night

The heavens declare His handiwork
And oh what a canvas fair
The artist is a Master
With priceless paintings rare
For minute by glorious minute
And hour by fleeting hour
This endless canvas portrays
The wonder of His power

In the west a crimson cape
Gently draws the sun
And bathes the sighing landscape
As another day is done
But in the east the tinted cloud
Crowns this solitude
And dons a flawless sapphire shroud
As daylight is subdued

But still the Master isn’t done
For as the crimson dies
He reaches from His splendid throne
And brushes ‘cross the skies
A wash of glistening silver-blue
As in the moon-lit hush
I pause to thank the Painter who
Never stops His brush

The heavens declare the handiwork of God;
the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.......Ps. 19:1-2

Ordinary Life

It’s up in the morning at five a.m.
Doing the same, same old thing again
Washing the dishes, scrubbing the floor
Waving good-bye as they head out the door
Serving in the role as husband or wife
But this is no ordinary life

It’s back to the office on the seventeenth floor
Wondering if life holds anything more
Nine to five then its hit the road
Chores are waiting when we get home
Sometimes we get weary of this toil and strife
But this is no ordinary life

If we are a member of God’s family
Then life is a grand opportunity
No matter our mission how great or how small
The Source of our ambition is the best of all
Son or daughter, husband or wife
This is DEFINITELY no ordinary life

Everything we do in the name of the Lord
He will review when we get our reward
As others ignore us and hurry by
As we are tempted to sit down and cry
God soon will deliver us from this toil and strife
In Him this is no ordinary life

There is a God

There is a Rock that’s higher
Than each storm that we pass through
There is a Grace that’s greater
Than each sinful deed we do
There is a tender, watchful Eye
That we cannot out-run
And there is a sweet by and by
When this short life is done
THERE IS A GOD

There is a Hope that’s brighter
Than the darkest tear of sorrow
There is a load that’s lighter
If a higher Strength we borrow
And midst the turmoil and the strife
That seeks to rule our peace
There is a Haven in this life
Where we can find release
THERE IS A GOD

There is God that’s with us
In each valley we walk through
There is a God that watches
We cannot escape His view
There is a God below, above
Within us and without
A God of sweet, eternal love
Oh, let the whole world shout
THERE IS A GOD

Greatest Show on Earth

I have the best seat in the house
Upon an emerald hill
To view the cotton clouds wind-tossed
And hear the whip-poor-will
The scent of purple violet
Permeates the air
As the God of utmost glory
Paints the earth in beauty fair

I gaze across the rippling fields
Clad in resplendent green
The fullness of the spring-time yields
A beauty seldom seen
As daffodil in golden bonnet
Stands so proud and tall
To join in spring-times wordless sonnet
In this stately hall

The apple trees have donned their wraps
Of pink and lacy white
The awed spectator softly claps
In radiant delight
For none upon this universe
Could capture or refine
This work of art, this master-piece
Wrought by a Hand divine

I have the best seat in the house
Come, sit with me awhile
To behold the Hand of God
And heavens perfect smile
A thousand shades of lustrous green
A sapphire canopy
And somewhere, kindly in between
God placed you and me

Why Do We Do It?

Why do we do try to do some good
In this world that we are in?
Is it our response to an outward demand
Or a whisper deep within?
Do we reply to a desperate need
On a momentary whim
Or are we moved by an unseen Hand
And our love for Him?

Why do we walk the second mile
When most quit after one?
What is it that drives us beyond ourselves
When we are tired and alone?
Is it simply an act of duty
Like sweeping up a floor
To meet life’s expectations
Or is it something more?

As we see a tender need
Does it stir in our soul
A love we do not understand
Beyond our own control
Do we respond because we hear
His words breathed quietly
‘In as much as you do it to others
You do it unto me.’

To God Be The Glory

To God be the glory for all He has done,
To send in His mercy His only dear Son,
To be a light in a sin-darkened world,
A banner of love over all unfurled,
Hope for every boy and girl,
To God be the glory

So you got an ‘A’ on your paper today,
To God be the glory!
You scored the winner in your hockey game!
To God be the glory!
You’ve been blessed with many friends,
Enjoying gifts that friendship sends,
You helped a broken heart to mend,
To God be the glory!

So you were baptized last night,
To God be the glory!
You pointed someone t’wards His light,
To God be the glory,
So you forgave an angry word,
Let go of all the pain and hurt,
Crushed cruel gossip into the dirt,
To God be the glory!

You stayed up late to help a weak sister,
To God be the glory,
Though your feet ache and your hands blister,
To God be the glory,
And when you prayed for strength and might
To bear the pain of doing right,
He walked you through the dark of night,
To God be the glory

And to God be the glory for all that I am,
In word and in action may I glorify His name!
For every joy is a gift from you,
And so is every sorrow too,
So in everything I do,
To God be the glory
