Not a Graceless Void

If tonight the veil was parted
As we looked up to the sky
If we saw ten-thousand angels
Lift their golden trumpets high
If on clouds of brilliant glory
We beheld the Son of Man
Returning to conclude a Story
On the earth where it began
Would we rejoice with all the angels?
Would our hearts be over-joyed?
As we thankfully remember
This is not a graceless void

As we see the Throne of Judgment
And the One who sits thereon
The Alpha and Omega
God’s only begotten Son
As we bow before His presence
And confess His sacred Name
Will we see the face of Jesus?
Or our own folly and shame?
Will we tremble with lost sinners
As all sin will be destroyed?
Or thankfully remember
This is not a graceless void

As the Holiest of Holies
Comes to judge the sons of men
As the Book of Life is opened
What will be our utterance then?
Will we plead before a jealous God?
Without mercy or favor
Or will we recognize His Hands
As we reach to our Savior?
Will we cry ‘holy holy’
As to Heaven we’re employed?
For this Judge is also Savior
This is not a graceless void

5 and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.
To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, 6and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.
7 “Look, he is coming with the clouds,”[a]
and “every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him”;
and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.”[b]
So shall it be! Amen.
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Appointment......

There is an appointment we will keep
No option of cancellation
We may not ask for another date
Or pose a grand explanation
Of the who, the what and when or why
We cannot come today
For our appointment in the sky
Is not within our say

There is an appointment we will keep
And no amount of pleading
No best excuses in the world
Can exempt us from heeding
When at last our name He'll call
And He stands at our door
It will be time to leave it all
For Time will be no more

There is an appointment we will keep
No one falls through the cracks
The call may come while we’re asleep
Or busy, or relaxed
Each of us God formed in love
Each one formed by His power
Some day He’ll call for each of us
But none can know the hour

There is an appointment we will keep
But one we need not fear
The Shepherd knows each of His sheep
And longs to draw us near
For this appointment that awaits
Is but the Shepherd’s beckoning
The sheep will enter at His gate
In that great Day of Reckoning

Janet~

I am the good Shepherd.
I know My sheep and
My sheep know Me. John 10:14

Busy....

Sometimes in the busyness of life
It’s easy to get lost in details
We forget the most important things
The wonder of a sudden smile
The warmth that one kind word will bring
The hand that holds a door
The laughter of a little child
And oh, there’s so much more
But life keeps us engrossed in things
And wee cares of the day
We miss the twilight as it sings
In heavenly majesty
We miss the ‘merry’ in Christmas
And sometimes we miss the ‘Christ’
Simply a casual greeting
Because it sounds quite ‘nice’
And then, before we know it
Another Christmas time has passed
Another year ticks off the clock
No different than the last
Always seven steps behind
With just too much to do
I wonder, in life’s busyness
And when it all is through
What will be our legacy?
As we lay down to rest
For no one is too busy
When at last they meet with death….

….sometimes in the busyness of life
We might forget to pray
Or think at all of One named Christ
Before the Judgment Day

Janet~

Let’s keep Christ in CHRISTmas
And all year through!!!

Immortality

Somewhere on rugged mountain tops
Or in a wind-swept grave
On lost, forgotten battlefields
Or ‘neath the cold, dark wave
In dungeons far beneath the earth
In ashes, void, forsaken
Somewhere our bodies turn to dust
But our souls with God shall waken
There we will meet the deeds we've done
Be forever lost or free
For if we've been washed in the blood of the Son
Oh what glorious immortality

And I saw the dead, small and great
stand before God;
and the books were opened: and another
book was opened which is the book of life:
and the dead were judged out
of those things which were written in the
books, according to their works.
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it
and death and hell delivered up the dead which were
in them: and they were judged, every man according
to their works. And death and hell were
cast into the lake of fire.
This is the second death.
And whosoever was not found written
in the book of life was cast
into the lake of fire. Rev.20:12-15

Lasts....

If your last thought was your final thought
Would that be alright?
Shouted from the mountaintop
In noon-times sunshine bright
And if the last words you uttered
Were your last words ever spoken
Would it be a good and kindly
Parting farewell token
If the last deed rendered
By these, your earthly hands
Was the last deed surrendered
To times vast shifting sands
And if someone traced
Your last mile you tread
Could they follow your steps
Or would you blush deep red?
Would it be alright with you?
Would it be all okay
To meet with God beyond the blue
On that great Judgment Day?

There is nothing concealed
that will not be disclosed,
or hidden that will not be made known.
What you have said in the dark
will be heard in the daylight,
and what you have whispered
in the ear in the inner rooms
will be proclaimed from the roofs.

Hopeless

His golden fields are rich with grain
His store-house over-flows
I see his pleasure ‘neath my pain
My cross beholds his rose
And in my state of discontent
I cry out “Father, why”
In wickedness his field was sown
Yet wealth is Your reply

In tenderness He takes my hand
And lifts my face to Him
“Child, when You don’t understand
When hope and strength grow dim,
I will still be at Your side
Your grandest wealth awaits
The wicked in this world abide
Heedless of their fate.

The sun shines on the just, unjust
The rain on all as well
On he who’s only god is lust
His reward is hell
My child, too soon the Reaper comes
To those who shun My love
Too soon these hopeless fields shall burn
As I My Words shall prove

Flicker

Swift as a flowing river in spring
Faint as a breath on a butter-fly’s wing
Brief as the tear wiped quickly away
Simply a flicker on a canvas of gray

Precious as a babe in a new mother’s arms
Priceless its value beyond this world’s charms
One tiny foot-print in the vast blue sky
One tiny flicker before we die

One tiny flicker, one transient breath
One fleeting dance twixt life and death
One tiny flicker, one God, one Way
But two destinations on Judgment Day

Just as man is destined to die once,
and after that to face judgment,
so Christ was sacrificed once to
take away the sins of the many people;
and He will appear a second time,
not to bear sin, but to bring salvation
to those who are waiting for Him. Heb. 9;27-28

End of a Dream

You looked so appealing; your lure drew me in
I was captivated by your subtle grin
Smooth, smooth talker, I believed every song
But now I’m a case of dreadfully wrong

I dreamt of owning what you offered me
I didn’t see it as the end of a dream
And I didn’t care ‘cause you made me blind
I was sure of the happiness I would find

Somebody whispered soft tones in my ear
I just ignored it with a scornful sneer
He promised that He could truly fulfill
Every need of my sad, selfish will

Now it’s all over, the saddest of songs
Too late I realize I was so wrong
Death can’t deliver me from my doom, it seems
That you, oh World, are the end of all dreams
