God Never Will

Son, you’re growing up so fast
Soon you will be a man
Son, there are some things that I
Would like to tell you while I can
This world can be a cruel place
Disappointments can come and they will
People you trust will betray you
But God never will….

Son, remember your Creator
In the days of your youth
He is the perfect example
Of love and honor and truth
Life will pass before you
With offers to tempt and thrill
So soon its pleasures vanish
But God never will….

If friends should walk beside you
Then suddenly disappear
There is One who will guide you
Son, He is always near
There are many things in this world, dear
That promise to please and fulfill
Yet leave us empty and searching
But God never will…..

God will not lead you down a path
Of lies and make-believe
He will never forsake you, son
And he will never deceive
This world is full of choices
And vices to soothe and thrill
While they pierce us through with sorrow
But God never will

Happy 12th Birthday, Matthew
May God bless and keep you
All the days of your life,
Love, Mom

Remember now thy Creator in the days of
thy youth, before the evil days draw nigh
when you shall say, "I have no pleasure in them". Eccles. 12:1

Out of the mouth of a 12 yr. old …..

Do you know what’s the best, mom?
Watching the highlights when you know your team has won!

(After mom rebuked him for accepting money for some food trade at school)
“Mom, boys are not like girls….if you offer us money, WE’LL TAKE IT!!!”

Matt: What’s for dessert?
Mom: Well, we have brownies, but they’re in the freezer.
Matt: Frozen brownies are REALLY GOOD!!!
Mom: How do you know that?
OOPS!!!

Too Soon

He walked along beside me
My boy, not quite a man
But as he spoke a part of me
Reluctantly began
To admit the day was coming
And was not too far away
When I’d recall a night like this
A precious yesterday

God, I am his mother
You are the only One
Who can see how much I love him
My dear and only son
Too soon the day is coming
When he’ll stand among the men
Let me cherish every moment now
I can’t go back again

I can’t hold back the minutes
As they trickle through my hands
But I can take a picture
Of our footprints in the sand
And I’ll walk a little slower
Paint a picture in my mind
For childhood is an hour
That too soon is left behind

I find that walking in the evening with my children
is one of life's ....I'm not sure what to call it...
I guess one of it's greatest, simplest pleasures.
Matthew, Victoria and I had such an evening tonight.
And as Matt walked, he talked, and it really hit me how fast he is
growing past being a kid.....his responses are more thought out,
he notices things he never used to...about a lot of stuff
and I know I am watching a boy growing into a man.
Lord, teach me what to teach him!!!!!

Victoria is still very much the ceaseless chatter-box!!!
It will change, I know it...then again, maybe not,
The old saying is..there are no two alike, right?:)

Our Secret

Betcha didn’t think I’d notice
With that twinkle in your eye
And the little glow of mischief
As you softly tiptoed by….
Bet you’re thinkin’ that I’m thinkin’
You’re a mighty little man
So just between the two of us
I’ll keep our secret if I can

Bet you’re thinkin’as you’re reaching
For the stars, the clouds, the moon
That before so very long
You’ll be a big tough man real soon
And that’s why you keep saying things
That you hear ‘big guys’ say
I know, it’s our secret
So I’ll try to keep it that way

Yeah, you’re so tough and strong and cool
You’re the leader of the gang
Well, almost…and you would be
But you sorta like it here at home
So I will keep our secret
You’re tough and have no fear
‘Cause you and I both know it…
You're just a great big teddy-bear

Sons, be kind to your Mothers

Dear sons, be kind to your mothers
They love you so very much
Make sure your words are gentle
And loving is your touch
For you may search the whole world through
But you will find no other
To match the depth of love for you
Like that of your dear mother

I know she isn’t perfect
But she does the best she can
She’s just a human mother
Trying hard to raise a man
Love her and forgive her
If she mistakes your needs
She loves as if she’ll answer
For your choices and your deeds

She’ll love you son, forever
In spite of your mistakes
She forgives your error
Though sometimes her heart may break
Be kind sons, to your mothers
For until that Home above
You will never find another
Who will match your mothers love

My son, hear the instruction of the father
and forsake not the law of the mother. Prov.1:8

Thank-you Matthew, for being a kind son.
God bless you.
