Reminder of God's Supremacy

Listen; listen to the roar of His voice
Rumbling like thunder over the earth
He says to the snow ‘fall’ and to the rain ‘pour’
Halting men’s labor as elements roar
And the animal takes cover in its den
His breath produces ice, He scatters lightning
At His direction they swirl where He commands from above
He waters this world to punish or love

Listen oh man, and consider his wonder
How He controls clouds, the lightning and thunder
As the south wind is hushed, you sweat in your clothes
Like the splendor of the sun His majesty glows
Exalted in power; in His righteousness
Mankind reveres Him; He does not oppress
Who darkens His counsel without understanding?
Who is above His supreme commanding?

Where were you when he laid the earth’s foundation?
Who laid the cornerstone of creation?
Who shuts up the sea and bars the door
Where proud waves halt; who marks the shore?
Has ever a man shown the dawn its place?
Or touched the spring of the sea, treading its deep recess?
Have we seen the gates of the shadow of death?
Can we comprehend the vast expanses of earth?

Or tell Him where darkness and light reside
The snow and the hail; can we decide
Who fathers the rain or the drops of dew?
If you speak to the clouds, will they listen to you?
Do we provide food for the creatures of earth?
Or know the hour when doe or mountain goat gives birth?
Can we trust a wild ox to serve at our side?
Bringing us the grain our needs to provide

Tell me, by our wisdom does the hawk take flight?
Do we tell the eagle where to sleep at night?
From the rocky crag he sees afar
On fields of the slain his young ones are
Do we dare to say then ‘aha, aha’
How will we answer Him; with trembling and awe?
Or will we as Job ask, ‘how can I reply?’
And cover our mouth, ‘no answers have I’

Then Job answered the Lord and said,
“Behold, I am vile, what shall I answer Thee?
I will lay mine hand upon my mouth. Job 40:4

For I Am God.......

Nation will rise against nation
Mightiest kingdoms will fall
This is My declaration
For they do not heed My call
The strongest men will crumble
Returning to ashes and dust
Yet My grace is poured out to the humble
And to all who obey and trust

Who else can be likened to Me?
Who can make anything grow?
Can gods formed by hands of a goldsmith
Wash sinners whiter than snow?
Why do you fall to worship
The idols for which you slave?
Or pray to gods of wood and stone
Who have no power to save?

Fear not, My little children
For all that must come to pass
As surely as it is written
These days shall whither as grass
Has ever a God besides me
Profited any man?
The idol formed from the strengthened tree
Is the tree nourished by My hand

For I am God; there’s no other
There is none like me
I am the God of ancient times
And of days that yet will be
Hear ye, oh stubborn nations
What the God of Israel has said,
‘He frustrates the liars tokens
And drives the diviners mad’

I am the Lord, there is none else
There is no god besides me
I form the light and the darkness
Instruct the wind and the sea
My hand stretches over the heavens
What I purpose will be done
For I am the God of Israel
Besides Me there is none

Isaiah Ch. 44-46

Remember the former things of old:
For I am God,
There is none else;
I am God.
There is none like Me. Isa.46:9

I bring near My righteousness;
It shall not be far off and
My salvation shall not tarry:
I will place salvation in Zion
for Israel my glory. Isa.46:13

This Is Our God.....

He sits enthroned above the earth
Holds in His palm this drop of dirt
He stretches out from sea to sea
The heavens like a canopy
He brings the stars out one by one
And knows not one of them is gone
Lift up your eyes from fields of sod
Look to the skies, THIS IS OUR GOD

He tends His flock, we are His lambs
Tender shepherd, great I Am
He gathers us into His arms
Close to His heart; He leads the young
Who can measure His great hand?
Who His mind, can understand?
Who can hone His chastening rod?
There is none; THIS IS OUR GOD

The gods of earth are formed by man
Gold on gold or silver chain
Carved of wood that will not rot
Idol yes, but God, they’re not
Have you not heard or understood?
A God cannot be made of wood
While unbelievers scorn and laugh
His breath sweeps them away like chaff….

To whom then, can he be compared?
Can anybody teach the Lord?
Who taught Him to understand?
Who can rule above His hand?
He, who brings princes to naught
Can He by anyone be taught?
This world’s kings reign over sod
He is Supreme; THIS IS OUR GOD

Do you not know? Have you not heard?
He is the everlasting Lord
He is the God of all creation
He is the God of our salvation
We cannot fathom or understand
This God of no beginning or end
He exceeds all realm of thought
Look up and see, THIS IS OUR GOD

Behold.....

Look, oh look at the lily, the rose
As perfect today as in Eden’s repose
Immorality, shame, greed and lust
Leave their traces in the dust
Yet as man’s wickedness increases in power
They never can alter the form of the flower

Look, oh look at the breath of spring
Painting the earth in ever-green
Though man may strut and march and trod
And smear the handiwork of God
They can never quell the birth
Of the seed beneath the earth

The Hand of grandeur sweeps the world
As His glory in sweet spring is unfurled
He nudges the bud on the naked tree
And clothes the hills in an emerald sea
Over the fields of somber brown
He spreads a green and floral gown

Wickedness spoils and hatred kills
But it cannot hold back the wonder that fills
The earth; from generation to generation
No one can deter the Hand of creation
As He brushes His love on the dormant sod
And proclaims from above, BEHOLD, I AM GOD

the beauty of a sunset,
the freshness of spring,

Be Still and Know

Be still and know that I am God,
I plan the pathway that you trod,
I paint the trees that mark the trails
Where fleet deer rests and coyote wails,
I touch the clouds with coral hues
And brush with gold the clear, clear blues,
Then as the night-shades softly fall
I wrap you with a starry shawl

Be still and know that I am God
I plan the pathway that you trod,
I guide the laughing brooks that play
Beneath the weeping willows sway,
I watch the minnows as they race
Within its bubbling, trickling pace,
I ruffle all the fern and flowers
Gracing shores and leafy bowers

Be still and know that I am God,
I plan the pathway that you trod,
I plan the hills and valleys too,
And promise that I’ll see you through
The winds that taunt the shifting sail,
The whispering breeze, the strongest gale,
The storms that toss you where you stand,
I hold them all within My hand

Be still and know that I am God,
I plan the pathway that you trod,
I plan the beauty and the pain,
The bright sunshine and driving rain,
Without life’s hills you would not see
The blessing I have planned for thee
So as with faith this path you trod,
Be still and know that I AM GOD

I AM

Sometimes I get entangled in
The futile web of ‘could have beens’
And as its taunting tortures me
I’m trapped within its misery

As I dwell on my sad regrets
I sadly also then forget
God did not say ‘I was’ or ‘will be’
He said ‘I AM’ and sets me free
