Love............

How did it feel oh God
On that first night and day
How did it feel as spoken thought
Drove the darkness away?
How did it feel to separate
The earth and sky above
The seed of a universe so great…….
He said, it felt like ……..
Love

And how did it feel oh God, to see
The hills and trees and flowers
Your wondrous perfection breathed
Upon this world’s first hours
As You viewed this galaxy
From higher thrones above
How did it feel Your words to see?
He said, it felt like……….
Love

And how did it feel oh God, to take
The dust of this new span
And in Your greatest mystery make
The image of a man
How did it feel to breathe in Him
Your breath and see him move
Among the Garden of Eden
He said, it felt like………..
Love

How did it feel oh God, to drive
Man from this paradise
And know that hope for man to live
Must now need sacrifice
How did it feel to know the hour
Must come when You will prove
The magnitude of Your great power
He said, it felt like………
Love

How did it feel to put on flesh
In fashion of a man
As heavens sacred righteousness
Came to fulfill hope’s plan
How did it feel, rejection, hate
The nails that cruel hands drove
Into the palms of One so great
He said, it felt like…….
Love

And as you broke the seal of death
And as you tore the veil
And brought hope to a curs-ed earth
Oh God, how did it feel?
As You broke the chains of sin
And as You made a way
For mankind to be clean within
And dwell with You some day
And as you see the trusting soul
In true repentance bow
Giving You his life’s control
Cleansed in redemption’s flow
How does it feel, oh God to look
On us from up above
Knowing the sacrifice it took
He said, it feels like…….

What Could Have Been.....

Sometimes I find, as the music
Filters softly through my mind
It stirs in restlessness within
As I wonder what could have been….

Sometimes I find as your memory
Caresses the song in my mind
I quell the sigh that breathes within
As I ask myself…..what could have been

Heaven's Violin

In Heaven I’m not sure what I’ll do
While God greets the other guests
I’ll wander the streets of golden hue
In perfect pastures I’ll rest
And as I pause on the heavenly shore
Where crystal waters flow
I’ll praise my King forevermore
And there’s one thing I know……

There’ll be violins in Heaven
Sweet music they will play
Trickles of perfection
In a holy serenade
The angels in countless number
Will drink the music in
As we pause in wordless wonder
At heaven’s violin

Its melody soothes the traveler
Here on our weary way
It sets our feet a-dancing
And turns our night to day
Its soft strain melts our troubles
If just for a little while
And when I get to Heaven
I know that I will smile…..

‘Cause there’ll be violins in Heaven
They might be made of gold
And as we view the beauty
That has never yet been told
Over the hills and valleys
A serenade begins
And feet will start a-dancing
To Heaven’s violin

Oh, what a celebration
Some sweet day it will be
As every tribe and nation
Unites in victory
And as we join in chorus
I’ll wear a mile-wide grin
As we hear what God saved for us…..

Blessing or Curse

There are blessings that I would not ever have missed
If I had not held them and found they exist
If, for a brief moment I had not clasped it near
I could not sorrow its loss now in tears
I wonder sometimes which one is worse
Tis a fine line between blessing and curse
I cannot miss what I never have known
But oh, the bliss of that hour in the sun

Which is best? I ask you to choose
To never have or to have once, just to lose
To have a niche carved somewhere deep in your heart
Where you protect the aching part
Or to never have known that sweeter bliss
Then its emptiness now would not be there to miss
Yet if you could you would never return
The tender moment for which you now yearn

Blessing or curse, tis a fine line I say
-to never know or to know for a day
To be kissed once or to never be kissed
To know a joy you would never have missed
If but for a day you would never have touched
What slipped away and you now miss so much
To wonder why you knew for just a day
That finer joy before it slipped away

What is Man????

Sultry autumn evening beneath magenta skies
Drinking in the beauty of the of the twilight lullabies
The willow tree whispers in the bloom-scented breeze
And I in my wonder am drawn to my knees

And I cry to You Lord, as the daylight grows dim
What is man that You’re mindful of him?

You paint the dawn o’er a sin-ravaged plain
The sun shines on our doom and pain
Your mercy caresses our every cry
And your grace still blesses a wretch as I

And I cry to You Lord, with vision so dim
What is man that You’re mindful of him?

For all of my hatred You give me love
For all of my failure I have hope from above
I lift to You my defeat and my loss
Then You give to me eternal life through the cross

And I cry to You with eyes tear-dimmed
What is man that You’re mindful of him?

Man is but a worthless shell
Man is doomed to endless hell
Unless he sees his utter loss
And finds Your victory in the cross

I thank You Lord, as daylight grows dim
That You love man and You’re mindful of him

Thank-you Jesus (song)

Tonight as I lie here unable to sleep
I think of Your love how vast and how deep
I simply can’t grasp its eternal wonder
The God who expels the lightning and thunder
Still cares for me so weak and so small
I’m overwhelmed by the wonder of it all
My heart over-flows in this midnight calm
In Heaven’s repose I rest in Your palm

And I want to sing, yes I want to shout
In the arms of the King, no longer without
I am forgiven, I’ve been set free
Thank-you Jesus for dying for me

You healed the blind man who sat in the street
You loved and washed the disciples feet
You called to Zacchaeus come out of that tree
You walked on the waves of the stormy sea
You reassured Mary as she wept at the cross
Though You were forsaken by those You loved most
And here in the stillness of the midnight calm
You reassure me as I rest in Your palm

And I want to shout in the still of the night
Come, all you blind men and He’ll give you sight
Come, every lost son, each straying daughter
Trust in the One who walks on the water

Fall on your knees, oh, won’t you surrender?
In the hush of the breeze hear His plea so tender
Out of the storm and into the calm
Oh won’t you come and rest in His palm?
His love so amazing, His grace so free
Patiently waiting for you and me
Will you turn away from His out-stretched hand
And shun His great love that flows through the land?

Or will you join voices to shout and to sing?
It’s all about Him, it’s all about Him
Thank-you, thank-you for love full and free
Thank-you Jesus for dying for me

Father, I want those You have given Me
To be with me where I am,
And to see My glory,
The glory You have given Me
Because You loved Me
Before the creation of the world.
