Perfect Peace

Through the thickest veil of sorrow
Or the deepest gloom of night
In the fear of my tomorrow
Flows a soothing calm delight
It’s a gentle, hovering Presence
Grand and undemanding
A pure and holy essence
That surpasses understanding

In words it cannot be explained
Descending from above
By the world it is disdained
….this pure and holy love
But when my heart is troubled
With life’s sorrows never-ending
His perfect peace is doubled
And surpasses understanding
