Is He More?

Is He more than an emotion
That will bring us to our knees
Or a form of strict devotion
Where we strive to do and please
Is He more than the Messiah
That the prophets long foretold
Or a distant heavenly Being
Treading highways paved in gold

Is He more than Rock of ages
Or the Hand that rules the world
More than stories on the pages
Of the greatest truths ere told
Is He more than the wee baby
Born to Mary long ago
Or a vague and mystic maybe
In a mind tossed to and fro

Is He more than the Creator
Of the land and sky and sea
Or the blessed Mediator
And the Holy Trinity
Is He more than King of glory
The Beginning and the End
I guess what I’m really wondering
Is simply this; is He our Friend?
