Are We Ready?

If we should be lying in a field full of clover
Gazing up into the sky
With the whisper of breezes when day-time is over
Breathing a lullaby
And if in this moment of sweet relaxation
And quiet tranquility
The skies would explode into grand exaltation
Are we ready?

If two in the field working shoulder to shoulder
Should suddenly realize
That one will be taken, but not the other
Would it be you or I?
If the glorious moment of here ever after
Should come so suddenly
To bring an end to this weeping and laughter
Are we ready?

In the same way He ascended to Heaven
Someday He will surely return
To gather His own from the dead and the living
Before the elements burn
Are our lamps trimmed; are we watching and waiting
If His coming should suddenly be
Would He find us here with no oil in our lantern
Or are we ready?
