When All the Wars are Done....

When all the wars are done
No more blood-shed, no firing of gun
No counting the dead in the red battle-field
No hatred and dread in battalions concealed
Proud flies the banner as the Victor is revealed
When all of the wars are done

When all of the wars are done
We’ll lift our eyes to behold a Great Throne
As the stars fall from heaven in fiery tears
And the elements tremble as the Rider appears
With a loud trumpet call every nation shall hear
When all of the wars are done

When all of the wars are done
We will behold both Father and Son
In power and glory on clouds in the sky
He shall be seen by every eye
‘and all of the peoples of earth will cry’
When all of the wars are done

To him who loves us and has freed us
From our sins by his blood
And has made us to be a kingdom
And priests to serve his God and Father----
To him be glory and power forever and ever,
Amen

Look, He is coming with the clouds,
And every eye shall see him
Even those who pierced him,
And all the peoples of the earth will mourn
Because of him.
So it shall be.
Amen

Dwelling Place

He could have had a mansion
The best this world could give
The King of all creation
Could choose where He would live
The Hand that formed the mountain
And urged the rushing stream
Decked the blue pavilion
And gave the star its gleam

He could have had a palace
The mighty King of kings
He clothed the hills and valleys
And taught the birds to sing
He could have had a castle
The best earth could afford
Still would have been too humble
To house the lord of lords

He could have chosen Heaven
And never left His throne
For there can be no mansion
Worthy of God’s own
He could have lived above us
In heavenly majesty
But heaven's most Beloved
Has chosen you and me

He chose a lowly temple
A temple made of dust
And here He makes his dwelling
This God in whom we trust
He could have had a mansion
The best that there could be
I cannot understand it
But He chose you and me
Praise God, He loves us so much
That He chose you and me!

Do you not know that your body
Is the temple of the Holy Spirit
Who is in you, who you have received from God?
You are not your own;
You were bought with a price.
Therefore honor God with your body. 1 Cor. 6:19-20

Tonight while I was running, the song
Les Cloches Du Hameau- by Celine Dion
came on. The melody was breath-taking
and since I didn't understand the words
a new set of words formed in my mind.
This is what inspired this poem.

He Will Do the Rest

It’s easy to become discouraged
As we view the road ahead
It takes a lot of courage
To face those hills we dread
It seems that our own might
Is soon so very small
And if we rely upon it
We are surely doomed to fall

But there’s one thing that we can do
As we face every test
We can pray each other through
And God will do the rest
If we place our own wee hand
Into His gracious palm
He lifts us up and helps us stand
Oh my God, lead on

So let’s pray for each other
And not neglect this power
Encouraging each other
Within this darkened hour
For there is hope for sinners
Who trust love’s very best
And if we call upon His name
He will do the rest

The Lord is my Shepherd;
I shall not want......Ps.23:1

Try putting the emphasis on
a different word in the verse
each time you repeat it....
It is astounding how profound one line can become!!!

Momentary..............

Like that time you stubbed your toe
Or missed the wood when you swung the axe
And you groaned and moaned ‘cause it really hurt
But life is just like that
Remember that face plant into the dirt
When you slid into second base
Those first few moments; how they stung and hurt
As you wiped unbidden tears from your face
But life is just like that
Remember the satisfaction and pride
The elation and joy of success
How the excitement bubbled from deep inside
In a well-spring of happiness
Remember the pleasure of saying thank-you
For the compliments and praise
As a sense of deliverance rolled over you
In a sweet, satisfying haze
But that was yesterday, before the dismay
Of chapters two and three
As you realize the fleeting prize
Of momentary security
Momentary pleasure, momentary pain
Earthly treasure is stored in vain
Momentary victory, momentary defeat
Momentary shadows or sunny retreat
But life is just like that
A sequence of momentary things
Lest we forget, we will never be kings
So we dare not scoff at the one in the dirt
Or brush off another’s misfortune or hurt
We all are simply fellow-men
Part of a much, much greater plan
Than this life of momentary mystery
Tomorrow today will be history
All of its moments, but steppingstones in a sea
Leading to the brink of eternity

I posted this poem on my
anotherporch blog and as I posted it
So many parts of Proverbs and Eccles. came to my mind….
Instruction and analysis of these moments……
This thing called Life …………

I decided to post it here with a few verses
Following this heading in my bible

….the conclusion of the matter……
(after writing Proverbs and Ecclesiastes)

Not only was the Teacher wise, but
He also imparted knowledge to the people.
He pondered and searched out and set in order
many proverbs. The Teacher searched to find
just the right words, and what he wrote was upright and true.
The words of the wise are like goads,
Their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails……given by one Shepherd.
Be warned my son, of anything in addition to them.
Of making many books there is no end
And much study wearies the body.
Now all has been heard;
Here is the conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear God, keep His commandments
For this is the whole duty of man.
For God will bring every deed into judgment,
Including every hidden things,
Whether it is good or evil.

Eccles.12:9-14

Remembrance Day

A gun, a bomb, hatred and loss
Will never set us free
A Son, a tomb, love and a cross
Has sealed our victory

~Janet Martin~

“It is finished” John 19:30

This is my body given for you
Do this in remembrance of me. Luke 22:19

The Cost.........

So many lives lost
This is the cost
To protect and preserve our freedom
But One death on Calvary
Sets every man free
And reserves us a place in His Kingdom

~Janet~

For Christ also died for sins once for all,
the just for the unjust,
so that He might bring us to God,
having been put to death in the flesh,
but made alive in the spirit; 1 Pet. 3:18

In His Service.....

Some days I don’t feel like facing
The toil of another day
But the minutes and hours are racing
And soon will have melted away
I linger in the warmth of the covers
For another minute or two
As I begin to think over
All the work I need to do
And I start to feel quite weary
Before the day has begun
The sky, still dark and dreary
In a sunless dawn
Then Someone reminds me gently
Of His tender love and care
There is no load so heavy
That He has not promised to share
He reminds me that He never leaves me
And He will provide for today
Wherever I go He sees me
And walks with me all the way
There is no task too futile
No matter how small it may seem
If we remember, we’re His child
And doing it all for Him

This was a little poem in the Daily Bread last week…..

God often uses lowly things
His purpose to fulfill
Because it takes a humble heart
To carry out His will. D De Haan

Come to me all you who labor
And are heavy-laden
And I will give you rest. Matt. 11:28

Yes, Lord

You cradle in your gracious hand
Each soft and trembling dawn
The wind and waves heed Your command
We see Your touch upon
Each fragile bloom that clothes the field
Or lofty mountain peak
Nature in its glory yields……
In awe, we see You speak

You could part the great Red sea
And softened Pharoah’s heart
Until Your people were set free
You held those walls apart
You fed them with Your manna
In the bare wilderness
And yet I cringe and stammer
When all you want is ‘yes’

You sealed the mouth’s of lions
You stood within the flame
As in a fiery furnace
Faithful three honored Your name
You slew the mighty giant
Saved Jonah in a fish
Oh, why am I defiant?
When all You want is ‘yes’

Why, in doubt’s dark hour
Or in my stubbornness
Do I resist Your power?
When all You want is ‘yes’
The One who holds the stars in place
Took on a robe of flesh
And died, to save us by His grace
Now all You want is ‘yes’

…yes Lord, send me, yes I’ll go
Yes Lord, I will do it
If You send me then I know
That You will guide me through it…….
I"m a sinner, weak, defiled
My wisdom, foolishness
God, help me trust you as a child
Enough to whisper ‘yes’

One Day at a Time.......

So many pitfalls seek to ensnare
Fear, worry, doubting and hopeless despair
We get so weary in our daily climb
Forgetting to live one day at a time

One day at a time our God will provide
We don’t need to see to the other side
Tomorrow has quite enough cares of its own
One day at a time He will make His will known

Today is the day that the Lord has made
We will rejoice and be glad in it
One day at a time He supplies our need
Oh, we serve a most awesome God indeed

One day at a time, oh God help us trust
For Your will is perfect and Your way is just
He gives us just enough strength to climb
Closer to Him, one day at a time

One day at a time, not enough for tomorrow
Oh God help me never its burdens to borrow
Lest I overlook the all the love that You shed
Because I’m looking back, or looking ahead

That's the Great Thing about Jesus

I can tell him anything
And he won’t laugh at me
I can pour my heart to Him
He listens patiently
And I don’t need to re-explain
When things don’t come out right
He knows exactly what I mean
And holds me close and tight

That’s the great thing about Jesus…….

Jesus does not pick and choose
To Him we’re all the same
There is no one He will refuse
If we call on His name
There is no status to achieve
He only asks one thing…..
If we truly do believe
We must be born again

That’s the great thing about Jesus……

Whosoever will may come
The door stands open wide
Beckoning to nations from
Each country and each tribe
He loves each one the very best
Regardless of our race
He fills us with His righteousness
And sweet amazing grace

That’s the great thing about Jesus………..

He calls us His very own
And never leaves our side
And if perhaps we stumble on
Our foolish sin and pride
He forgives us patiently
And helps us to our feet
And never leaves us angrily
On some forgotten street

That’s the great thing about Jesus…………..

His precious love will never fail
Though oft we fail for Him
Through life’s tempest and stormy gale
His love will never dim
He holds us fast within His arms
And never lets us go
Stands beside us through the storm
For he loves us so……………

That’s the great thing about Jesus…………..

And when at last my final hour
On this sad earth has come
I need only trust His power
To gently lead me home
Out across death’s deep dark sea
I see a father come
To draw me to Him tenderly
As He cries, welcome home

That’s the great thing about Jesus…………….

….whoever comes to me
I will never drive away. John 6:37

As I began writing this I realized it’s a poem that could go on forever!
I was going to quit after the first three verses
But the thoughts kept coming
Eventually I quit writing because there is NO END
To His goodness!!!!!

Crosses

Every now and then perhaps
We’re tempted to compare….
And wonder why it is that some
Have heavier loads to bear
We look upon what eye can see
And count their list of woes
Forgetting those who bear the hurts
That nobody else knows

Or we may look at those who seem
To live on easy street
Their life appears a happy dream
And everything is sweet
But we don’t see behind the walls
Can’t count their gain or loss
And who are we to then declare
Who bears the greatest cross?

Every now and then perhaps
We’re tempted to despair
We may even dare to say
That life just isn’t fair
But there is One who knows the truth
He sees each hurt and loss
And He will help each one of us
To carry our own cross

The Unknown.....

It looms before us like a great abyss
Void of shape or form
And no one knows just what it is
Will it be sun or storm?
We gaze at it with awe and dread
There’s nothing we can do
To glimpse the road that lies ahead
When this moment is through

All must face this mystery
This shroud across the way
We might gaze back at history
But there is not one ray
To beam into the vast beyond
Or shed a little light
That would reveal the great unknown
Before it becomes sight

And yet, we need not shrink in fear
Or worry needlessly
To our God the way is clear
And He knows what will be
Each life He holds within His hand
We never walk alone
We do not need to understand
He knows the great unknown
