When you looked at me from across the room
I could hear every word
While others were laughing and milling about
I knew they never heard….
But your words were as clear as your breath in my ear
Spoken with a glance
And your lingering gaze took my breath away
As you said, Shall we dance?
Shall we dance in the moon-light on far-off hills
Away from the noise and the fuss?
Our carpet the glow of the moon as it spills
Its shawl on the two of us?
If I leave this room will you come with me too
As we wander a country-mile
A rendezvous in a party for two
I answered you with a smile
