What's the Rush?

There’s no rush, relax, take a deep breath
Gaze around you at the beauty of the earth
The clouds that drift in yonder sky
Are in no hurry to pass by
The gentle slope of weathered hills
Staid, unruffled, calm and still
Beckon; oh have you ever strayed
Into their haven for one sweet day?

Slow down; can you hear the whisper?
Of the roses, the daises, their silent laughter
Did God create all of this beauty?
For us to ignore as we heed Sir Duty
I say, nay, for what’s the use
Of life marched solemnly in duties shoes
Come; lay down your weapons of life for a while
Play hooky beneath fair heavens smile

Slow down, take a breath, relax, and close your eyes
Open them now…do you see the sun-rise
Or the shadows that dance in a soft serenade
With laughing sun-beams that twinkle and fade
Do you hear the breeze, a splendid sigh?
As through the trees it passes by
Do you hear God, within the hush?
As you slow down, take a deep breath, oh, what’s the rush?

Shadow of the Past

My sins have been forgiven
God’s grace will hold me fast
So I cannot keep living
In the shadow of the past
In Him there is no darkness
He fills me with His light
Evil with its harshness
Prefers the dark of night

The Light shines in the darkness
It cannot comprehend
The loving grace and kindness
Of an Everlasting Friend
But I have been forgiven
To His dear hand I clasp
So I cannot keep living
In the shadow of the past

The old life far behind me
Oh, let me not look back
With Jesus here beside me
I’ll trust Him for what I lack
His precious love forgiving
My first sin to the last
So I will not keep living
In the shadow of the past

The shadow of the past will taunt
With vengeance and regret
The shadow of the past will haunt
So that I will forget
In Jesus there’s a sweet release
Redemption from the night
Demons flee and shadows cease
Walking in His Light

Let Go of the String

Let go of the string, let go of the string
Let go of your fear and your worrying
Release all your shame and trust in His name
Let go of the string and He’ll give you wings
And you’ll fly, yes you’ll fly
Through the clear blue sky
No, you will not fall, let go of it all
For He’ll give you wings so let go of the string
Let go of your grudges and don’t pull them back
Let go of your anger and the faith that you lack
Release that dark chord and look to the Lord
Oh He’ll give you wings so let go of the string
And you’ll fly yes you’ll fly
Through the clear blue sky
Freedom is bliss with my Hand in His
All that I must is simply trust
Trust and let go and His power He’ll show
As I let go of my string and fly on His wing
Ah, sweet, sweet release, ah, heavenly peace
Trusting His wing I let go of my string
