My Source of Power

Sometimes, although we hate the act
We do it anyhow
Too weak to stand on our own strength
I guess it goes to show
If we rely on human power
We are doomed to fall
God, walk me through my weakest hour
Be my All in all

Forgive me for my foolish stumbles
Victim of my pride
You give grace Lord, to the humble
And for all, You died
Lord be in me, Lord, shine through me
Take away my sin
Mend this broken sinner, Lord
Oh, make me whole again

Sometimes when I can’t feel You, Lord
Or you seem far away
Help me to find my way to You
Teach me how to pray
Through You I can be strong enough
Within my weakest hour
For Your arm is long enough
To be my Source of power

Willing.....

I will follow where you want me
I will walk the second mile
When temptations evil taunts me
I’ll just shake my head and smile
I won’t take the hand that leads me
Down that slow and gentle slope
To a pasture where they’re sleeping
While in darkness still they grope

If some evil hand should smite me
I will turn the other cheek
If seductive charms invite me
Still your holy face I’ll seek
When the night is dark and lonely
And my friends are far and few
Oh my Lord, You’ll be the only
One I’ll seek to see me through

I will love and keep on loving
Though the world should turn on me
I’ll forgive and keep forgiving
Hate will be my enemy
Lord, it seems I’m not fulfilling
All these lofty words I speak
The spirit indeed is willing
But the flesh is weak

"The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak" Matt.26:41
These are the words that drifted across my mind this
morning while I was trying to convince myself to get
out of bed and walk across the room to turn off my
alarm clock!!:):)

My Best Good Intention

I held in my pocket my grandest invention
It was my latest best good intention
I smiled as I stroked its colors with pride
How good it felt to know deep inside
Was my good intention to cherish and love
But my best good intention was not good enough

Deep in the deepest cloak of my heart
There my intention began falling apart
Blindly I ignored the hints of my weakness
My good intention would lead me to greatness
But other things vied for my affection and love
And my best good intention was not good enough

The smallest kind act, no matter how small
Is better than the grandest intention of all
Now I know the truth, yes I know it too well
Good intentions pave the highway to hell
Good intentions have no power to love
And my best good intention was not good enough

God, be the Master of my best intention
Help me follow through, see it to completion
And never to rest with my pockets lined
With the best good intentions of a great master-mind
For the best good intention has nothing to prove
And the best good intention is not good enough

Strong Enough

Lord, when I’m determined to do things on my own
When I ignore your mercy and the goodness you have shown
When I think I’m strong enough; forget to hold Your hand
Soon it seems I need your loving arm to help me stand….

Oh my Lord, oh don’t let go
When I’m too weak to say no
Gird me with Your tender love
Lord, until I’m strong enough

Lord, when I’m determined to take the harder way
Against my better judgment, foolishly I stray
And soon the sorrow of my sin draws me to Your love
As I cry, Jesus, hold me until I’m strong enough

Oh my Lord, oh don’t let go
For you know I love you so
Oh my Lord, without Your love
I never could be strong enough

Out of my barren desert where temptation led astray
Into Your arms Lord Jesus, lift me as I pray
Out of sin and darkness into Your hope and love
Only there my Savior, will I be strong enough

Oh my Lord, oh don’t let go
‘Round me demons ebb and flow
But within Your arms of love
There I will be strong enough

Forgive me Lord, if I let go
Jesus loves me this I know
For You wrap me in Your love
Where I can be strong enough

Vanished???

As you spoke, the restless wind
Drew your words
Into the night air
And they vanished…
Well chosen words, I must say,
Honestly kind,
But they hurt
And nowhere in
This silky silence
Remains a trace
Of their hopeless despair
As they slipped away….
Like you will, who spoke them
In your weakest, strongest moment
You decided to say
Them.
Oh, the stars twinkle,
I see their million sequins
As they delicately sprinkle
The dark blue velvet sky
Above us, and I try
To find a tiny trace
Of the words you spoke
And the tears on your face
But they have vanished
Into the night-sky
Whilst you and I remain
And must decide
What to do
With these kind and honest
Well-chosen words
That in your strongest, weakest
Hour you spoke
For they are lodged in our hearts
Forever.
