To My Heart

To My Heart

When all of the wisdom of knowledge and words
Cannot make it from my mind to my heart
When it seems to me that I have heard
The full measure that words can impart
When I reflect in the still of the night
On the things that I know to be true
Yet find them powerless to calm or delight
There is only one thing I can do

I cling to You Jesus, as I reach for Your hand
Though you cannot release us, you help us to stand
My faith is as small as a mustard seed
Yet you have declared it is all that I need

When truth is a mirror that causes me pain
As it reveals my faults and regrets
When everything I’ve lived for has been in vain
There's one thing I cannot forget
While all the things in this sad old world
Leave us empty and dry
Above the cloud is a banner unfurled
Your love that will never die

So I cling to you Jesus it is all I can do
While the storm rages I’ll keep clinging to You
Then as I am clinging, dear Jesus impart
Your blessed Word from my mind to my heart

In God is my salvation and my glory;
the rock of my strength, and my refuge is in God.
Trust in Him at all times, ye people.
Pour our your heart before Him.
God is a refuge for us.

Tug-of-war

In my head I know what I need to do
Lord, I need to give it all to You
All the fear of the known and unknown
Every tear when I am alone
Every thought of hate and torment
Would disappear in Your arms heaven-sent

But in my heart it seems like I need to cling
Stubbornly, foolishly to the very thing
That keeps me from wholly trusting You
And robs me of peace and love so true
Why won’t my heart listen to my head
As I cling to the things I see instead?

Lord, give me the faith to let it all go
Faith to believe that You love me so
Faith to listen to Your words in my head
Faith to know without works it is dead
Lord, in my head I know it in part
But help me to believe it in my heart

What a wretched man I am.
Who will rescue me from
this body of death?
Thank be to God--

My grace is sufficient for you,
my strength made perfect in weakness. 2 Cor.12:9

Don't Turn Away

Don’t turn away, I’ll admit
The sky is a little gray
Today,
But tomorrow is
Another day
The sky might be
Another shade of gray
But it also might be
A perfect shade of blue
The kiss of the sun
On your down-cast view
So don’t turn away today

Don’t turn way, I’ll admit
There may be days
Like today
When you struggle a bit
But this too shall pass
So softly away
Tomorrow the grass
Will not be gray
But the perfect shade of green
And laughter will dance
Where your tears had been
So don’t turn away today

Don’t turn away, yes I know
There’s no easy street
Today,
Beneath your feet
The rock is gray
The climb is a little up-hill
The going tough
But if you trust My will
It will be enough
The gray sky will turn
To blue someday
So don’t turn away today

But He said to me,
My grace is sufficient for you…2 Cor 12:9

There is one word to perfectly describe
today; gray.....
Well, I think I'm going to go
for a long trek in a gray day:):)

Stay in School

The poems I write are simple to read,
Cause I aint got no college degree,
A professor, I fear I would not delight
But when God speaks I try to write,
Scholars may snicker, perhaps even sneer,
But that won’t make me shed a tear,
The Lord put me where I am for a reason
An’ I aint gonna question, but just try and please Him

I don’t got as much book-learnin’ as I should get,
But He sure aint done teachin’ me yet,
An’ the lessons in the school that I am in
Can’t simply be written with paper an’ pen,
Some tests I fail an’ frustration cries
But my Teacher sez failure can make us wise,
So guess I’ll struggle a little longer,
My Teacher sez struggles make us stronger

Naw, I aint as smart as I’d like to be,
But my teacher don’t mark in A’s, B’s or C’s,
He’s more concerned ‘bout my hearts condition
An’ how I’ll fulfill my earthly mission,
His lessons I often too soon forget,
Guess that’s why He aint done teachin’ me yet,
So I’ll not question but keep on learnin’,
There’s a Book that records the marks I’m earnin’,

No I aint very wealthy or very wise
But I’m pretty special in my teacher’s eyes,
So don’t be a fool, obey all the rules,
Kids (of all ages) stay in school!!
Hey!!! Cool!!! Like, yeah, like that’s really like cool!!!:)

Just Between You and Me

Lord, you know the deepest desires of my heart
You know my secret pain
You know the wounds that have torn me apart
Hidden from every man
You know each failure, each joy and each woe
Each loss and each victory
Yet Lord, you love me wherever I go
And just between You and me…….

I know and I’m glad that You understand
Me down to my inner-most part
For deep in the hidden depths You planned
Me close to Your tender heart
All of my days were written before
One of them came to be
How precious to me are Your thoughts, oh Lord
And just between You and me….

I’m glad that You are an all-knowing God
Your ways are past finding out
For as You behold my inner-most thought
Discouragement and doubt
You alone can give me power
You are my victory
As I give You my darkest hour
Just between You and me

Read Psalms 139

Yes, He really does love us
like this picture portrays.....
When I saw this picture it
Sparked a train of thought....
of wonder and love for a
dear, kind, merciful
Heavenly Father

Walk with God

Some day, my child, you’ll be leaving
To go into the big world alone,
And silently, already I’m grieving
The hour, when from here you have flown,
For life can be a cold wind blasting
As in its vast plain you trod,
But there is one sure thing everlasting
My child, if you walk with God.

In all of your joys and your sorrows,
In failure or in your success,
In the mystery of a-thousand tomorrows
Which I pray, hold for you happiness,
In all of your coming and going,
Wherever in life you may trod,
There is a quiet peace ever-glowing,
My child, if you walk with God.

Remember him in all of your choices
When you rise to face a new day,
Remember him when dark, evil voices
Threaten to lure you away,
Remember this great, great salvation
And trust Him as onward you trod,
For we serve the Lord of creation,
So, my dear child, walk with God.

Love, Written by mom
From Mom and Dad, Happy Valentine’s Day, 2009

Remember now thy creator in the days of thy youth,
Before the evil days come and the years draw near
When you shall say, ‘I have no pleasure in them.’
