In Waning Daylight......

In waning daylight
In sacred hush
I did not see
His silent brush
My thoughts on
Duties of the hour
Blind to the
Beauties of His power

Until I sensed
A coral haze….
And I beheld
With awestruck gaze
In twilight’s palm
A glorious crown
As the light
Of day dies down

Rampant beauty
Wordless wonder
As the Hand
Of wind and thunder
Paints across
The western sky
A master-piece
To draw the eye

The eye of doubter
And believer
Blessed alike
By Heaven’s Giver
Perfect love
For you and I
Brushed by God
Across the sky

The western sky-line is completely obliterated
From our view unless we walk out to the road!

I know…..this is the third Friday night sunset I’m posting!!!
…but they are grand!

Two weeks ago we had those pink cotton-candy clouds
(posted on my ‘anotherporch’ blog)….the sky that ended my
‘no writing for awhile’ decision…
Last week I took my camera with me on an evening trek..
Tonight we were in the back yard ‘chilling’
when I said to Matthew and Victoria
“Do you have a feeling we’re missing a good sunset?”….
The air had a pink sense before we could see it!!
It was ‘GOOD’ alright!!!

When I consider the heavens
the work of your fingers......

After.....

After the busy toil and strife
After another day of life
After the sun has slipped away
As we hail the end of another day
After the moon climbs into its throne
Wrapping the world in a silver gown
After our words of the day have gone forth
For better or worse across the earth
After our worship, complaints and fears
After our laughter or silent tears
After all is said and done
And this day is forever gone
Did we make a difference as we lie down to rest?
Did we give God our very best?

Do I See Him?

A misty splash of velvet glaze
Escapes the painter’s brush
Melting in a purple haze
Upon the morning hush
And as I stand in wordless awe
Bathed in daylight dim
Do I simply see the dawn?
Or do I see Him?

As duty calls my restless feet
And bids me cease my dreaming
Of shady haunts and lost retreats
And distant hills a-gleaming
A sigh escapes as I return
To duty’s flowing brim
But midst the dreams for which I yearn
Do I see Him?

As blacks and purples softly blend
In wisps of joy and sorrow
As heartache eases with a friend
And gives hope for tomorrow
Or as I pause at sunsets brink
With shadows growing dim
Do I simply pause to think?
Or do I see Him?

Everyday Living

What was your favorite day in your life?
Your favorite memory
I contemplate my collection of joy
As this question is asked to me
Was it as a daughter or a mother and wife?
Where my favorite memory lies
As I evaluate my treasured storehouse
I begin to realize

It’s all of my memories of everyday living
Not a singular one-time event
But in the hum-drum of life’s taking and giving
Is where I am most content
Dandelion bouquets and music of laughter
As children swing high in the breeze
Popsicle mustaches and rainy day baking
Ending each day on my knees

Everyday living- burnt toast and wild mornings
A floor that is cleanly swept
Impromptu tea-parties, friends that don’t judge me
Soft music while baby slept
Everyday living on the doorstep of Heaven
Where His very best gifts are free
I cherish the dances of everyday living
As the moon sails across midnight’s sea

Yes, my favorite day is everyday living
Doing the best I can
To treasure the gifts so lovingly given
By a gracious unseen Hand
Front porch picnics and back-yard basking
Popcorn and lemonade
Hugs and kisses are free for the asking
And sunsets are heaven-made

I’ll take the pleasures of everyday living
Above an adventure grand
To watch the sun drawn from the horizon
Waking a slumbering land
Then from behind me a soft little whisper
“Good morning, I love you”
Everyday living- sweet breath of Heaven
“Good morning, I love you too”…..

And now, yes I know in the morning dim
Its every day I spend with Him
Its every day in every place
Since I have been saved by grace!!!

I Turn the Page

Dear little baby, so precious and new,
Sent down straight from heaven, oh, how we love you,
So pure, so angelic at this innocent age,
Time moves on, I turn the page

Dear little child, how fast you are growing,
With sparkling eyes and rosy cheeks glowing,
You’re so curious, so naughty, so sweet and so brave,
Time moves on. I turn the page

You’re a young man or woman now, my how time flies,
May God give you purpose, may He make you wise,
Life beckons to you in your youthful age,
Time moves on, I turn the page

You’re a daddy, a mama, so busy each day,
The hours are minutes as the years tick away,
You wish for discretion of a great, wise sage,
Time moves on, I turn the page

Your hair now is silver; your step is slow,
Days of childhood now seem long ago,
May God be your strength in this sunset age,
Time moves on, I turn the page

And gaze to the sky where sunsets are glowing,
Gates to a kingdom where someday I am going,
Where a day is forever and there is no age,
And time stands still…..no more turning of page
